MP3 of the Week: Magic People, "The Pigeon and the Eggs"
from The Boston Phoenix, February 18th 2010:
MP3 of the Week: Magic People, "The Pigeon and the Eggs": "
Out there on the ’nets, there’s been a pretty steady buzz concerning You Are the Magic People — the latest full-length offering from said MAGIC PEOPLE — since shortly after it leaked late last year. And it’s easy to hear why. “Fuck the Wind” sounds like an anxiety attack in a Lisa Frank sticker; John Manson’s bass and Al Deaderick’s Arp circle and growl tensely at each other on “I’m Telling You (About the Dutch)”; and on “The Pigeon and the Eggs,” an unsteady clockwork shoves its way through a shambling drone before the song powers itself up into a radiant anti-anthem. It’s the kind of album that will frighten everything else off your iPod — and in addition to having it up for download at inmanstreetrecords.com, Deaderick’s own Oklo Audio is releasing a limited pressing on blue vinyl. This Monday, Magic People will celebrate the album’s long-awaited release at Charlie’s Kitchen with General Interest, Life Partners, and Brutal Love Masters.

Incorporeal Collyrium by Rev Al
Here's a cassette demo I made in 1997 in my JP living room. This is the demo that propelled me into a minivan driven by Edo G, who took us and a couple other protégés to a studio in Stoughton, where my equipment didn't work. I think Esoteric wanted to rap other the fifth track too. Nothing came of either venture. Enjoy this for free.
